Van Ness Homes For Sale in Washington DC

Up in the northwestern part of Washington, DC is a neighborhood known as Van Ness. Here you'll find large luxury single family homes for sale in a wide variety of styles, including Colonial, Tudor, Spanish and Contemporary. The community is also associated with a development complex commonly known as Van Ness North, although the buildings themselves are singularly known as Van Ness North, Van Ness East and the Archstone Van Ness Apartments. It probably won't surprise anyone that the complex is located at the intersection of Van Ness Street and Connecticut Avenue. To the immediate east is the much larger neighborhood of Forest Hills. It's so much larger that Forest Hills residents sometimes regard Van Ness as being a part of their own community.

Apart from street names and multi-unit residential buildings, Van Ness also has other important distinctions. For one, it houses the campus of the University of the District of Columbia. The other thing is its proximity to several foreign embassies. Van Ness is bounded by Yuma Street to the north, Connecticut Avenue to the east, Van Ness Street to the south and International Drive to the south. That's where the embassies come in - an extensive cluster on the other side of International Drive, including embassies for Israel, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Nigeria, Brunei and Malaysia.

More About Van Ness Homes For Sale in Washington DC

Van Ness Homes For Sale in Washington DCIf you search Van Ness homes for sale in Washington DC, you may not find much. The reason is simple – the University of the District of Columbia takes up most of the neighborhood. The Van Ness Centre is actually on the other side of Connecticut Avenue, which does in fact make it part of Forest Hills. Nonetheless, it's the largest residential complex on the street, encompassing 18 acres of land. The development was initiated in 1964 and completed in 1970 at a cost of $50 million.

The 16-story co-op Van Ness North building is the flagship of the development – 466 full-service units with a grand circular driveway, a fountain, guest parking, two beautiful swimming pools and views of nearby Rock Creek Park. Sales prices for the co-ops are quite affordable, running from $225,000 to $455,000. The Van Ness East wing offers 433 condos starting at $179,900 for studio units. Archstone Van Ness features luxury rentals, starting at around $1,600 per month. With all of the complex's many amenities, plus the nearby Van Ness metro station, an abundance of shops, restaurants and of course the park, Van Ness Centre is one of the best deals in all of DC.
