Split Foyer homes in the Washington metropolitan area are often lumped together with split level and bi-level homes. While they're part of a common grouping and architectural era, there are some differences. The split foyer designation is quite literal – the front door entrance opens into a foyer with a short set of stairs going up and one going down.
