Montclair VA Homes For Sale
Not far from the Potomac River and surrounding a large man-made lake is the community of Montclair, Virginia. With approximately 20,000 residents and encompassing six-square miles of land, the town of Montclair is part of Prince William County and borders the I-95. It was recently listed in CNN Money Magazine as one of America's best small towns and is noted for its community spirit and a proactive property owners association that helps organize events and activities.
Montclair's earliest roots date back to the Revolutionary War when George Washington had a “baggage wagon” road built extending from Georgetown to Dumfries. Known as Dyers Road, it ran through what is now known as Montclair and exists to this day, located behind Alexander Henderson Elementary School. Montclair once shared a zip code with neighboring Dumfries, a town that experienced a substantial residential buildup in the late 18th century. Montclair itself remained mostly farm land until the modern era. For more information on Montclair VA homes for sale, contact Andre Perez at (202) 798-3600 today!

Montclair went into rapid expansion mode in the 1970's with residential subdivisions offering multi-bedroom single-family detached homes, often in a contemporary Colonial or split-level style. The 1990's brought a rash of townhouses, further expanding the range of this popular commuter suburb. Prices in Montclair typically list in the mid-six figure range and generally reflect a lot of bang for the buck. Since 2000, the majority of new home construction in Montclair has been on the west side of Lake Montclair and adjacent to the I-95.
The centerpiece of this charming town is Lake Montclair, created by the damming of Powell's Creek. Homes with direct water views and dock rights are especially in demand and many of the communities planned events revolve around lake life including Montclair Day and 4th of July fireworks displays that take place over the water. Boating, swimming and fishing are all highly popular, along with golf and tennis at the local country club. Prince William National Forest Park is also close at hand, offering camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.
