Similar to many of its neighboring towns, Lake Ridge VA homes for sale occupy land that was once highly contested during Civil War battles between the North and South. As a residential community however, its development is more recent. Located along Old Bridge Road, Lake Ridge as it stands today, grew out of a late 1960's building room. Over a ten-year period, four major developments were in full bloom. Construction continued at a rapid pace throughout the 1980's and 90's, slowing down thereafter.
The town of Lake Ridge extends off Old Bridge Road and is often associated with Woodbridge when it comes to real estate values and listings. The majority of homes are single-family detached dwellings with about ten percent condos and townhouses. You'll find mostly Colonial and Split Level architecture here with some Ramblers, Cape Cods and Contemporary homes toward the town's outer edges. As you might expect, waterfront properties are especially popular, as they are throughout the Washington Metro area.
Lake Ridge is has a lot of community spirit with frequent events including youth sports, summer camps, and seasonal parades and events. There are five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, all within the local bounds. There are also a number of pre-schools. Add to that two community centers, five public swimming pools, tennis courts and a boat ramp. The town has its own Lake Ridge Park and is also close to Fountainhead Regional Park. With plenty of grocery and restaurant options, this large, friendly community is one of the region's most popular commuter suburbs.
