Lacey Forest Historic Homes for Sale

Ideally located in mid-Arlington, Lacey Forest is a historic neighborhood known for its appealing variety of upscale homes for sale. While there are a lot of older, original properties here, you’ll also find a fair amount of new construction including large multimillion dollar homes. As part of the Bluemont Civic Association, Lacey Forest is closely associated with its neighboring communities.

This part of the county once flourished with farms and orchards. More modern day development began around the mid-1930s with a pause for the World War II years, then resuming thereafter. The building boom was mostly finished by the early 1950s. You’ll find a lot of Colonials in either brick, clapboard or combinations. Subsets include boxy Revivals, porch-front styles and even some early half-Cape variations with the entry to one side. Other architecture includes Arts & Crafts, brick Ramblers, early Split-levels and various cottage styles.

That said, there is still some new construction—mostly consisting of tear-downs or extensive remodels. This has resulted in a number of cottage conversions that have resulted in the “new Craftsman” look. There’s even a few townhouse condos for sale around the fringes. For the most part, however, the real estate inventory is comprised of detached single-family homes for sale with prices typically ranging from the mid-six figured to around $2 million.

Lacey Forest lies both north and south of I-66, and between the East Falls Church and Ballston Metros. Parts of Bluemont Park, Bon Air Park and Lubber Run Park are within the neighborhood’s bounds, as is the Beaver’s Pond wetland preserve and Arlington Constitutional Garden. In other words, residents enjoy lots of tranquil greenspace. Bluemont Junction which was home to three converging electric rail lines, as well as the Bluemont/Bon Air Walkabout with all its lovely trails, is also located here.

And, when one tires of nature walks and pastoral beauty, Wilson Boulevard is close at hand. That means that the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and its fabulous restaurant row is conveniently close by. From large and gracious homes for sale to a plethora of community amenities, Lacey Forest is one of Arlington’s top residential neighborhoods.
