More About Kalorama Homes For Sale in Washington DC

Kalorama Homes For Sale in Washington DCGenerally speaking, home ownership in Kalorama comes with a price tag. The area has long been established and there isn't a lot in the way of new development construction. Median home values are right at the one million dollar mark and many homes are well above that. Real estate data source Zillow puts the median list price at $2,495,000. If there's a less expensive way into the neighborhood it lies in one-bedroom co-ops in some of the large old apartment buildings and one-bedroom row house condos. There doesn't tend to be a large inventory as the neighborhood is rather small in size and owners are fairly entrenched. A recent look at condos and row house townhomes on the market revealed a range of $469,000 to $2,795.000 while available single-family homes varied from $2,500,000 to $5,000,000.

Located next-door to Adams Morgan, Kalorama is well known for its embassies and its cosmopolitan feel. The neighborhood is a quick commute to the downtown area by Metro rail and bus stops, yet retains an element of affluent suburban charm for families. There's plenty of green spaces, both in residential streets and at various parks, including the large Rock Creek Park and the smaller Kalorama Park where moms can often be seen pushing strollers. With a mixture of urban professionals and families, Kalorama is a neighborhood that values its history and traditions. Schools in the area include popular Oyster-Adams Elementary, located in Woodley Park but zoned for Kalorama as well.
