Hillcrest Homes for Sale in Washington DC

Located in the southeastern quadrant of Washington, DC, Hillcrest is a charming suburban neighborhood with gently rolling hills, generous-sized lots and attractive homes. It abuts the Maryland border and is generally regarded as one of the District's better-kept secrets. With a higher altitude than of many of its neighbors, homes in Hillcrest enjoy stunning views of Capitol Hill. In part due to its Ward 7 location, homes for sale are seen as a relative bargain, with average listing prices in the mid-six figure range. The downside is the lack of inventory and unlike more centrally located DC neighborhood, there isn't much in the way of new development plans. More About Hillcrest Homes For Sale in Washington DC

Hillcrest Homes For Sale in Washington DC Properties for sale in Hillcrest are predominately single-family homes with an emphasis on brick Colonials. There are also some Cape Cods, Tudors, Ramblers (also known as ranch-style) and Craftsman cottages. Tree-lined streets, well-maintained yards and an involved community are part of the local appeal. The Hillcrest Neighborhood Watch was formed in 1980 and has served as a nationwide model. While there is a Safeway supermarket and some other shops in the community there isn't a lot in the way of dining options. This doesn't seem to bother locals who are happy to drive the relatively short distance into the downtown area with its wealth of nightlife.

While homes for sale in Hillcrest are mostly of the detached variety, there are a few condos, townhouses and co-ops available. There is also something of a rental market although it is not pronounced. For the most part, this is a quiet suburban neighborhood that feels more akin to Maryland or Virginia than the nation's capitol. Nonetheless, this peaceful and picturesque community is indeed a part of the district. With a history dating back to the early 1900's and its neighborly block parties and holiday events, this is a community that comfortable just as it is; low-profile, attractive and affordable.
