Friendship Heights MD Homes For Sale
When it comes to being part of Washington DC metro, Friendship Heights enjoys the best of two worlds. It straddles both the northern sections of the District of Columbia and Maryland's Montgomery County. To make things even murkier, it also borders Friendship Heights Village to its north which is considered its own unincorporated special tax district. Confused? Who can blame you – the early settlers were obviously not forward-thinking people when it came to real estate data.
Friendship Heights got its name from a “friendship grant” of a large land parcel given to colonists back in 1725. It was all rural farmland until trolley tracks arrived from Georgetown around 1900. At that point residential development began in earnest, with the building of Victorian row houses, large Colonials and farmhouses. The bulk of the single-family home market is comprised of nicely maintained and renovated antiques, with prices in the high six-figures to low sevens. The Friendship Heights Village section is almost exclusively high-rise condos, but for more informaton on Friendship Heights MD homes for sale, contact us today!

Another complicating factor in this neck of the woods is Chevy Chase with enclaves on both side of the Maryland/DC border and often lumped in with Friendship Heights. School districting can get a bit hazy but there's some good options. On the Maryland side, there's Westbrook Elementary, Westland Middle School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High. On the DC side is Georgetown Day, offering pre-k through high school classes.
Fuzzy borders notwithstanding, there's plenty of great amenities in Friendships Heights, many of which are along Western Avenue between Maryland and DC. Coffeehouses include Starbucks, Mazza, Tynan Coffee & Tea, and Frosting. Among the many restaurants are Cosi, Cheesecke Factory and the trendy Range by Bryan Voltaggio. There's a number of upscale retailers as well, with malls such as the Shops at Chevy Chase Pavillion and Mazza Gallerie which also houses an AMC multiplex.
