Country Club Grove Homes for Sale
The upscale community of Country Club Grove is part of the Old Glebe section of North Arlington. It is closely associated with other neighborhoods that belong to the Old Glebe Civic Association, and owes its name to the nearby Washington Golf and Country Club. Homes for sale here come in a variety of styles with the common denominator being a relatively high price range.
While this area dates all the way back to Revolutionary War cartways, it didn’t become settled until the 1800s, especially the post-Civil War era when farms and Washington summer homes began popping up. There are still a few remaining historic homes from that long-ago time, but a more concerted residential development began after a 1932 survey of Country Club Grove. The late 1930s brought a wave of construction that continued forward, tapering down in recent decades.
Country Club Grove is just west of the Glebe Road Park and Gulf Branch Nature Center, and it’s not uncommon to see deer and other woodland creatures traipsing through the stands of trees surrounding homes. Old Glebe Road and N. Glebe Road are to the north of the community, with the country club itself, as well as the community of Country Club Hills, to the south.
The real estate market here is primarily made up of detached single-family homes for sale but there are some upscale condos and townhouses for sale near Glebe Road Park. Home styles include Colonial, slate-roofed English Tudor, Cape Cod, and mid-century Ramblers and Split-levels. There are also some newer contemporary houses.
Much in keeping with neighboring communities, Country Club Grove is known for a quiet and completely residential way of life—you won’t find any retail here. There’s lots of organized activities, and nature appreciation and conservation play an important role in the area. Of course, belonging to the Washington Golf and Country Club is high on the list. The historic club is well known for its social events, as well as golf, tennis, swimming and diving.
From charming homes for sale to pastoral greenspace, Country Club Grove and its Old Arlington ambience makes it one of Washington Metro’s most attractive neighborhoods.
