Chevy Chase MD Homes For Sale Basically speaking, the Chevy Chase area is bounded by the 495 Capital Beltway to the north, Rock Creek Park to the east, Western Avenue to the southeast and Bethesda to the west. There's a number of zigs and zags that complicate the issue but we don't have time for that. The real meat of the matter is the real estate market – a median list price of just under a million dollars. While the neighborhood is often associated with single-family homes, there are also a number of luxury condo developments including a number of newer high-rises.

This neck of the woods dates back to early settler days. In 1725, a 560-acre parcel was named Chevy Chase. The area was mostly farms and country estates until the 1890's when the Chevy Chase Land Company was formed. Residential development began in earnest after 1910, continuing into the early 1950's before slowing down. A more recent boom began around 1990. Homes in this part of the county enjoy a variety of styles including Colonial, Tudor, Georgian and Cape Cod.

Community amenities in Chevy Chase include the Columbia Country Club, lots of surrounding green space and the popular Friendship Heights shopping district. There's two local public schools, Chevy Chase Elementary and North Chevy Chase Elementary, with many students attending the nearby Lycee Rochambeau – the French International School for grades pk-12.
