After some back and forth between the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and the developers behind the new Portals V project, plans have now been fully approved construction is finally set to begin sometime in 2016. Included in the new development will be 290 apartment units over the first nine floors, 75 condominium residences in the top four floors.
When the project was first proposed, it was designed to be one of the tallest buildings in all of Washington DC, with a height of 130 feet, or about 15 stories high. However after a round of modifications, the new structure will stand 13 stories high, which is much more in line with adjacent buildings in the surrounding area.
News about the final plans for Portals V was first brought to us by the Washington Business Journal, and although no official completion date has been announced, we can’t wait for both the condos and rentals here to hit the Washington DC real estate market.
